About me

I started my career as a Graphic Designer in 2003, after having studied for my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts. For the past 14 years, I have been doing web development and within the past decade, have become a WordPress expert, specialised in the WordPress Content Management System. I have bolstered my career skill set with a Diploma in Marketing and Sales Management and certification in Social Media Strategy.

In my career, I’ve held a range of titles: Junior Graphic Designer; Design and Production Manager; Design Manager and Web Developer; Digital Marketing Specialist. From 2014 to 2016, I was iGovTT’s in-house web-designer/developer, website administrator, social media content and marketing strategist, under the title, ‘Website Communicator’. From December 2016 to July 2017, I worked remotely for New Zealand WordPress Development company, Performance Foundry as a Junior Web Developer.

I continue to work with multiple mediums and have had experience in print production processes, online media, websites, social media and small business operations, having owned and operated two businesses and one trademarked tee-shirt brand between the years of 2005 to present.

In July of 2012, I was a coach in the area of Digital Marketing and Branding at the Caribbean’s second and Trinidad and Tobago’s first ‘Startup Weekend’. I have guest lectured at Trinidad and Tobago Hotel and Tourism Institute, taught Graphic Design at YTEPP, and lectured at NEDCO/ETIIC for their ‘Social Media Strategy’ workshop in 2013. I’ve written for Entrepreneur Spirit Caribbean, a quarterly magazine, in the areas of design/branding and marketing. I have also been a featured web developer on the WordPress sanctioned community website: codepoet.com.

My experiences have made me confident about stamping my name on everything I do, having re-branded my business in the latter part of 2013. J.M.T.M. (JM™) are the initials in my full name, but the play on letters utilise the ‘trademark’ symbol. Using my name, I guarantee quality, as my eternal reputation rests on it. It is pronounced ‘jay emm’.

I work with numerous suppliers and other professionals in the execution of my projects. I find that this gives me the most flexibility and opportunity to vary outcomes on each project.

I am a poet, fiction writer and guitarist. In my free time, I journal and blog at https://janberryblog.wordpress.com/. In 2009, I published a book of poetry and a spoken word CD entitled ‘Godcall’, and it is available at our local library in POS, Trinidad or online at amazon.com. I am currently writing my second and third books, a non-fiction, philosophic memoir and a romance fantasy novel.
